Advantages of Litz Wire

Litz wire has three major advantages:

1.Magnetic devices using wound copper Litz wire operate more efficiently than magnetic devices using traditional enameled wire.

2.With Litz wires, the fill factor (sometimes called fill density) is significantly improved. Litz wires are typically formed in square, rectangular, and trapezoidal shapes, allowing design engineers to maximize the Q of the circuit and minimize device losses and AC resistance.

3.Devices using preformed Litz wire can hold more copper in a smaller physical size than devices using ordinary magnet wire.
